The Toastmost mobile app is now available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store — although I need help from Android users to make the Play Store version graduate from its current “Early Access” status (see below).
The mobile app is also generating new interest in the Toastmost project, based on the conversation going on in the Official Toastmasters International Facebook group, where I encourage you to add your comments.
Here is a quick video demo of what you can do with it, once you have it on your phone.
The app currently supports member role signup and assignment, the ability to suggest a role to another member (they get an email notice with a one-click signup link), speech timing, and voting on best speaker. Planned additions include meeting reminders, suggest a role for another member, and “signed” votes for official purposes like voting in a new member. Let me know what else you think would be useful.
Next step for the Android version
If you’re an Android user, please write back if you’d be willing to be an official beta tester for the Android version of the app. Google requires that 12 or more people enroll in a formal testing program, conducted through the Play Store (their app store), over a 14-day period before an app is officially published. I don’t have quite enough people yet.
The store listing already exists, but right now it’s labeled as an “Early Access” beta app. I’d like to get rid of that label.
Volunteer help
Regardless of what version of the app you try, I’d value your feedback on how it could be made better. That goes for the Toastmost website software too, of course. If anyone reading this has technical skills related to WordPress, React Native mobile app development, or scaling websites, I would welcome contributions to the open source project and the management of the web hosting service.
